The site was cool. I learned a lot about the Spanish Civil War and how the Republicans used the buildings. What I liked most was seeing the cannons; they were very large. 😀 If you want to go back through the West, there's a somewhat tedious road with a lot of cars. That road seemed endless to me. 😮💨

This part is at many points quite steep and should only be traversed with good shoes, good endurance and is not for the fainthearted. but the views are breathtaking!

The Batería de Castillitos is an impressive military fortification. It was built between 1933 and 1936 on the top of Cabo Tiñoso and was used to defend the Bay of Cartagena, a strategically important port and naval base. Particularly impressive are the two gigantic Vickers-Armstrongs cannons with a caliber of 38.1 cm and a range of up to 35 kilometers. These cannons were capable of hitting enemy ships far offshore and were considered technologically advanced at the time. The battery is now a popular tour destination and offers spectacular views over the Mediterranean. The well-preserved complex allows visitors to explore the rooms and cannon emplacements, gaining an insight into the military history and defense strategies of the early 20th century.

Out of service today. It could fire an 800 kg projectile at 35 km.
