ATTENTION from July 29, 2022, there is an ordinance prohibiting the continuation of the circular route. The ordinance states: the closure to anyone of trail no. 342 which runs along the riverbed of the Fiastrone in the locality "Gole del Fiastrone". Therefore, once you reach the cave of the friars (among other things with a poorly marked and dangerous path with a significant elevation gain) you must turn back and not complete the circular route. This excursion should be modified.

A path directly by the lake for walking and enjoying the scenery

Clean water, plenty of space to lie down—what more could you want when it's stiflingly hot and you're looking for some cooling off?

The path along the river is closed. Passing through the red blades, you can only reach the friars' cave. The path connecting the friars' cave to the monastery or back is closed.

The parking lot is marked as free on Google Maps. About 300 meters before entering the village, coming from the dam, there is a free parking lot on a meadow. That's where we started.

I did the entire route with a friend March 22, 2025 ... Up to the river everything is doable, after which an adventure with a capital A! The path that should follow the Fiastrone river is now erased by landslides and brambles. There are two options ... Either go up the steep descent that brought you to the river or continue inside the river. For those who continue inside the river .... Maximum attention! Better in company. We encountered stretches of water with a depth of 80/90 cm. Freezing water! While we were there we saw a live landslide and falling huge rocks. So I would say almost extreme hiking and therefore good training and experience required!

path not passable and quite dangerous... march 2025. maybe doable during the summer months when the river is dry and the water less cold.

I recommend not doing the whole route but going back after reaching Grotta dei Frati. In fact, going down further, you reach the river and to continue you literally have to walk into it. There is no path on the side. In addition, after crossing the river and taking the path again, the road is impassable due to a landslide since 2022. Nice route but the circular tour is no longer possible.
