Accumer Mill - Gallery Windmill, built in 1746 The mill is 16 m high, the cross-shaped wing, with two louvres and two sails, measures 20 m, and the compass rose is 5 m. The barn belonging to the mill, built in 1846, has been completely restored. As a café and meeting room, it can accommodate up to 80 people. I really enjoyed the opening baking day on April 27, 2025. Thanks to the great team who take excellent care of visitors on "Mill Days"! It's worth making a detour on such days. OPENING HOURS AND DATES From April to October, Baking Day takes place every third Sunday of the month from 2:00 p.m. with takeaway sales and a café outside the mill. Further information about special events at the Accumer Mill (e.g., baking days, mill festivals) can be found in the Schortens City Events Calendar.

The Slow Street is an experience and stopover. A street to be further developed and converted, never finished, always changing, always following people's wishes and needs and dreams, sometimes a living room that has been moved outside, sometimes an exhibition room, sometimes a sales stand or a stage that builds a bridge over the Street and reclaimed it for the people and sometimes everything at once. Sometimes it grows, sometimes it piles up, sometimes it seems to disappear into the landscape, only to reappear unexpectedly. It evades control and allows everyone to participate in its development and creation. A writhing snake in the landscape. A street with several stops such as flower bulbs, picnic station, fascination with earth - the worm station, wind rose, Mars and Wonderland. Fascinating experiences are hidden behind the individual stations. The individual stations were set up by trainees from the E.ON power plant and the naval arsenal, Glarum kindergarten and of course also by people with disabilities from the lifestyle and GPS workshops. Café Suutje invites you to linger on Saturdays, Sundays and public holidays from 2 p.m. to 5 p.m. from May to September. schortens.de/portal/seiten/die-langsamstrasse-900000185-20840.html

Kniphausen Castle in Fedderwarden in the urban area of Wilhelmshaven in Lower Saxony was built in 1438 and ultimately had “the typical image of a late Renaissance aristocratic residence”. In 1666/67 it was expanded into a fortress with four corner bastions. Source: https://de.wikipedia.org/wiki/Burg_Kniphausen
