The best MTB trails around gmina Lidzbark Warmiński

A fantastic path that leads along the bends of the Pisa River. The surrounding greenery is truly magical. A fragment is located on the Green Velo cycling trail. You will also find wooden shelters with benches, a place for a bonfire and information boards about forest life.

In this village founded on November 18, 1349 by the Bishop of Warmia, there are around 330 inhabitants. The place is surprising, because it also houses the sanctuary of Our Lady of Peace. Before the construction of the imposing church, there was only a modest chapel dedicated to the Virgin Mary. The title of minor basilica was awarded to the church by Pope John Paul II on May 19, 1987.

This imposing castle once belonged to the Teutonic Order. Over the centuries and through successive successions, it became the property of the princes, and later the bishops of Varnia. For about seven years, the castle served as the residence of the famous astronomer Nicolaus Copernicus. The residence was then owned by his uncle Lukáš Vatzenrode. Between 1858 and 1932, the palace was used as an orphanage and a hospital. World War II brought its own changes, transforming the castle into a prison for Soviet soldiers. Part of the immense palace is occupied by a 4-star hotel. The other part is a museum. The residence also has a spa. Here, you can combine business with pleasure. The Bishops' Castle in Lidzbark Warmiński, dating back to the 14th century, has great artistic and historical value on a global scale and has been recognized as a historical monument. There is the Museum of Warmia and Mazury. The outer bailey has been adapted into a four-star hotel. The castle is surrounded by a moat with numerous footbridges and bridges, with a climate reminiscent of the famous Venice, which should be especially appreciated by couples in love.

Beautifully restored Ordensburg with a hotel section. The castle can be visited. Simple, small museum and definitely worth seeing if you have the time. Features a beautiful courtyard and premises.

Between Kandyty and Gorowo Ilaweckie there is a great gravel track on a railway track. A decommissioned train station can also be seen.

Stoczek Klasztorny, also called Stoczek Warmiński, is an old Warmian village founded in the 14th century. In this small town there is an interesting round church (St. Mary's pilgrimage site), built in 1641 by the Warmia bishop Mikołaj Szyszkowski as a votive offering of gratitude for the victory in a war against Sweden. The church is surrounded by walls and monastery buildings from the 17th and 18th centuries. The monastery was inhabited by Franciscan friars, who looked after it until the beginning of the 19th century. It is currently a monastery of the Marian Order. The interior of the church is richly decorated, in the main altar there is an image of the Blessed Virgin Mary, covered with a silver dress with an amber necklace, a gift from Cardinal Primate Stefan Wyszyński. The wrought iron pulpit from 1738 is remarkable. The expanded organ front from the end of the 18th century makes a great impression. There is a memorial room in the monastery buildings dedicated to Cardinal Stefan Wyszyński. This was set up in the rooms where the cardinal was held prisoner in Stoczek Klasztorny for a year from October 13, 1953 during his arrest. After his whereabouts became widely known, the cardinal was transferred to Prudnik in southern Poland.
