It was once a classicist palace that served as Maria Theresia von Buquoy's summer residence at the beginning of the 19th century. After several floods it is now a ruin.

The rococo palace was built between 1774 and 1777 on behalf of Count Johann Anton Joseph Harbuval-Chamaré. The architect Josef Jäger designed it in the style of French summer residences. That is why it is also called “Little Schönbrunn” or “Bohemian Versailles”. The castle complex consists of the entrance gate with an adjoining French garden, the administration building on both sides, the grain store and the English park with the sandstone statues. Uphill are the ruins of the Gothic castle, which was demolished during the construction of the castle and served as building material. The castle was restored in 1997 and opened to the public in 2001.

Hiking in Národní Přírodní Rezervace Červené Blato offers a unique experience through an extensive and well-preserved peat bog ecosystem. This ancient landscape, sometimes compared to a 'northern tundra,' features distinctive brownish-orange water due to the peat, natural stands of peat pine, and rare plant species like the carnivorous round-leaved sundew. Well-maintained educational trails, often with wooden boardwalks, allow visitors to explore this fragile environment without disturbance.
Yes, the educational trail, 'Naučná stezka Červené Blato,' is generally considered suitable for a wide range of visitors, including families. It features well-maintained paths and wooden boardwalks, making it accessible and not overly strenuous. The informational stops along the trail also provide an engaging learning experience about the local environment.
The terrain in Červené Blato primarily consists of forest trails and extensive wooden boardwalks, especially along the educational trail. These boardwalks are designed to protect the fragile peat bog ecosystem and provide easy passage through potentially damp areas. You'll traverse a mosaic of peatland habitats, from open, treeless areas to primeval forest.
While the region is a natural reserve, specific regulations regarding dogs can vary. It's generally advisable to keep dogs on a leash to protect the sensitive wildlife and plant life, especially given the rare species and diverse fauna, including many butterfly species. Always check local signage for the most current rules.
The reserve is rich in natural features. You'll encounter ancient peat pine stands, some up to 200 years old, and rare plants like Labrador tea and round-leaved sundew. The best time to visit is generally during the warmer months, from spring to autumn, when the unique flora is in bloom and the weather is most pleasant for hiking. The wooden boardwalks make the trails accessible even in potentially damp conditions, but spring and early summer offer vibrant plant life, while autumn brings beautiful colors to the surrounding forests.
