This is a tough but spectacular ride! You can choose between a grueling 25-mile, 7,882-foot climb from Manitou Springs, or a shorter 12.5-mile ascent from the Reservoir Visitor Center (9,230 ft) to the 14,115-foot summit. Expect challenging conditions: changeable weather, thin air, and possible crowds. This is a rocky mountain classic!

Great trip! If you're not used to the elevation, give yourself time to acclimate. I only acclimated for about a week and had to take frequent breaks past tree line, but we'll worth the trip. Barr Trail is also a great trip. "Easier" but longer than this path. 10/10, especially for submitting one of Colorado's 14ers!

The most challenging section of the hike awaits you. From Barr Camp, you have another 5 miles to go, with an elevation gain of 4,000 feet. As you near the end, you'll encounter switchback trails with rocky terrain and scattered boulders. Keep an eye out for mountain goats and other wildlife in the area. Proper footwear and ample water are crucial for this more technical section, but the views are simply unparalleled when you make it.
