The Archaeological Open-Air Museum in Mrówki was established on the site of a well-preserved conical hillfort from the 13th-14th centuries, locally known as the Napoleonic Mound, although its history dates back much earlier. 🛡️ History of the Hillfort - The hillfort functioned from the late 13th to the mid-14th century. - The main structure was a pentagonal defensive tower, surrounded by a palisade and a moat fed by lake water. - Excavations uncovered the remains of a forge, a cellar, as well as agricultural tools, bolt heads, crossbow parts, and glass vessels, testifying to the high status of the inhabitants. 🏗️ Reconstruction and Attractions - In 1973, the hillfort was transformed into an open-air museum according to a design by Z. Łabuda, under the supervision of archaeologists from the District Museum in Konin. - A wooden watchtower with a viewing platform, a cottage, a forge, an entrance gate, and a bridge over the moat have been reconstructed. - Two floors of the tower house an archaeological exhibition, and the top floor serves as a viewing point. 🌿 Education and Nature - The open-air museum is part of an educational trail leading through the hillfort in Świętne to the recreation center in Przyjezierze. - Archaeological festivals are held regularly here, presenting the life of the medieval community.

An interesting chapel on a headland jutting into Lake Białe, in Skorzęcin. The holiday resort is usually "crowded", but here there is more peace and quiet and all the tourist hustle and bustle.

The charming Lake Piłka next to the forest village of the same name. It is worth stopping here to admire another beautiful Polish lake. On the northern shore there is a disused mill, and on the eastern - a forester's lodge.

Beautiful Lake Białe right next to Skorzęcin. Its shores are almost completely covered with forest - very picturesque and atmospheric. There are many oaks here, many of which are natural monuments.

Beach on the beautiful Lake Wilczyńskie. The beach is sandy, so almost like a beach on the Baltic Sea (almost...). There is also a nice pier. There are holiday resorts here, so it can be very crowded: no wonder it is popular: it is beautiful here.

A fascinating place. This stronghold was in use as early as 500-600 BC. It was originally inhabited by people of the Lusatian culture. The shape of the stronghold was triangular at that time, but in the 13th century a conical stronghold was built, but we don't know much about it. An interesting, wild place. Pure history.

An extremely interesting place. This open-air museum was built on the site of a former stronghold from the 12th-14th century. It was once a knight's residence. There is a moat, palisade, watchtower, fishing hut and forge. Worth a visit! - check how much the entrance costs. https://muzeum.com.pl/skansen-archeologiczny-w-mrowkach-kolo-wilczyna/
