Camp Hale is the site of what is left from the 1942 military training facility. The site spans much more area than only where there are ruins or the camping area. This is also a main layover for those hiking the Colorado Trail or the Continental Divide Trail.

The town is surrounded by hiking and biking trails, like the popular Booth Falls Trail, and other activities such as fly-fishing and gondola rides.
