Katiffik

Highlight • Mountain Hut

First or last hut on the trail, depending on which direction you go. Idyllically located on the east bank of the Amitsorsuaq. The hut is small, only 4 beds, but there are enough places for the tent nearby.

Nerumaq

Highlight • Mountain Hut

The Nerumaq hut in the valley of the same name is certainly a great location. We only spent our lunch break, but you can very well imagine an overnight stay here - whether in the hut or in a tent somewhere in the area. The water supply is no problem thanks to the meandering river.

At this place you are able to choose whether to take the northern (popular) or southern (wild) route.
Near to the hut you won´t find water. We decided to move on.

Ikkattooq Hut

One of the cleanest huts on the trail. Due to the wind we stayed the night inside. It was a pleasure :)

Kangerluarsuk Tulleq

Highlight • Mountain Hut

The location of the hut and the associated view are great, but with us it was very heavily littered all around so that it did not invite you to linger. We hadn't planned an overnight stay there anyway.

Innajuattoq-I Hut

Highlight • Mountain Hut

The smaller of the two Innajuatoq huts, which is located about 200m from the Innajuatoq II hut directly on the lake on a hill. The view of the big lake is fantastic. The hut is smaller than the one down by the lake, but clean and bright.

Old Camp Hostel

Highlight • Mountain Hut

Old Camp is a cozy and traditional hostel in Kangerlussuaq, located 2 km (1.25 mi) from the airport and offers a fantastic view of West Greenland’s longest fjord. Located away from the city lights, you might be lucky enough to experience the spectacular Northern Lights directly from your room in the winter.
In Greenland, nature and outdoor activities are the major attractions. For this reason, Old Camp’s accommodations are simply furnished, yet comfortable and well-outfitted with all of the essential amenities.

Old Camp consists of three accommodation buildings and a fourth that serves as the reception and souvenir shop. The Qajak and Tuukkaq buildings are newly renovated and feature double rooms with two single beds that can be joined as a double bed. The Ulo building consists of bunk bed rooms. Each building features common toilets and showers in the hallway. In every building, you will find a communal dining and living room, perfect for relaxing and sharing stories with fellow travelers.

Our single and double rooms are small, but modestly furnished with all of the essential amenities, including beds, linens, desk, chair and a small wardrobe. Shower and toilet are located in the hallway.

Coming from Kangerlussuaq, the end of the hiking stage is a long descent with some steep sections to the "Katiffik" camp site at the eastern end of Lake Amitsorsuaq. The tents are pitched near the shore, where the 22-kilometer-long lake offers drinking water, swimming (2 degrees Celsius!), and magnificent views of the Greenlandic landscape!

The hut is located in a deep valley. The surrounding mountains hardly allow the sun to shine in. So it can be relatively cool there compared to other points on the ACT.

Largest hut on the ACT with many small beds (bunk beds), good seating and also the only possibility to charge your electronic devices on the ACT, through the solar panels mounted on the hut

The Glacier Lodge Eqi, near Ilulissat, provides prime viewing of the calving Eqip Sermia glacier from its cabins. For unique stays, the Aurora Glass Igloos in Nuuk and Ilulissat allow you to sleep under the Northern Lights and wake up to spectacular views of fjords or Disko Bay.

Are there any family-friendly hut options in Greenland?

Yes, some accommodations cater to families. The Old Camp Hostel is listed as family-friendly and offers facilities suitable for a comfortable stay. While many backcountry huts are basic, lodges and hostels often provide more amenities for families.
