The Sandkaul near Ettringen in the Volcanic Eifel.🖤 This former volcanic rock mining area lies on the edge of the Hochstein volcano, north of Ettringen on the L 82, about 500 meters beyond the end of the village.🖤 Sad background: 🪖During World War II, the Ettringen caves were drilled into the rock...to protect against attacks🧨...😑🙏🏼

Imposing former quarry with a spectacular gorge-like entrance, at the same time a rustic spot for a picnic, seating with a table - highly recommended!

The Brohlbach rises near Hannebach and flows into the Rhine near Brohl-Lützing after almost 20 kilometers. Ambitious cyclists have the opportunity to cycle towards the stream and climb the entire route through the picturesque Brohltal while enjoying great views - e.g. of Olbrück Castle. There are about 500 meters of altitude difference, which are spread over about 19 kilometers. Due to the nature of the road and frequent rail crossings, only the ascent is recommended, not a descent. The sign in the photo marks the end of the Brohltal ascent.
