A beautiful little peak in the forest with benches and a summit cross. The altitude information is a bit confusing. The Hauknock is marked with 691 above sea level, while the sign right next to it says 675 above sea level.

Definitely the most beautiful way to get to Hainberg is right on my running route. A good challenge for runners!

In 1861, the city of Asch bought the bare summit of Hainberg (Czech: Háj) from Count von Zedtwitz in order to wood the mountain and turn it into a park for the population. The new attraction soon became very popular. In 1884 the Ascher Alpine Club built an inn with accommodation on the summit, and the observation tower was ceremoniously opened in 1904. Monuments to Jahn, Körner and Schiller complemented the stone path.

The monument to the German poet and soldier Karl Theodor Körner (1791 to 1813) was unveiled in 1913 on the 100th anniversary of his death. The original bust was lost, as was the relief of a rider. In September 2013, another hundred years later, the new bust was unveiled. The base of the monument is flanked by plaques on which the names of the citizens of Asch who died in the wars of 1813 and 1914/1918 are immortalized.

Pretty “summit” with a cozy bench to rest on. Unfortunately, this part of the forest is also affected by emergency clearing...

The memorial for the Ascher soldiers who died in World War I is a misused memorial by the German poet Theodor Körner. It was originally unveiled in 1893. The pedestal is still there. The memorial to the freedom poet, newly created by the Körner youth team, was unveiled on the occasion of the 100th anniversary of his death in 1913 in a park at the foot of the Hainberg below the Asch observation tower. At the top was a restored bust of the poet Körner. Below this was the inscription "Körner" and below it the bronze relief of a mounted soldier. It stood a few hundred steps above the Jahn monument.
