Schloss Zerben, also known as Plotho Castle, is a manor house in Zerben, Saxony-Anhalt. In 1847, a simple half-timbered house was converted into a castle complex following the characteristics of the Weser Renaissance. The estate owner Wolfgang von Plotho, inspired by Leitzkau Castle, had an elaborate three-winged ensemble built between 1874 and 1879. The single-story complex, whose roof is adorned with typical Renaissance gables, stands freely on the edge of a park towards the Elbe and is therefore easily recognizable from the Elbe dyke across the flood meadows. In 1948, parts of the castle were demolished on the orders of the Soviet military administration. After the municipality of Zerben became the owner in 1996, it was placed under monument protection in 1998. Since 1999, efforts have been made to gradually restore the property to its original form. The renovation was successfully completed in July 2011. https://de.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Schloss_Zerben
