The Prinzengarten, laid out as a landscape garden in the 1870s, was the park belonging to the Princely Hohenzollern City Palace, the Prinzenbau. However, because of the low-flying aircraft, trains only ran in the morning and evening, and staying directly at the station during the day was too dangerous, many of the refugees bridged their delay until their onward journey at Mühlberg, Josefsberg, or Buchhalde.
