Deep in the Hardtwald - off the main roads - interesting place.

Looks like an oversized doghouse, but it's an old, restored shelter that has certainly served well over the centuries. On my last visit there was straw in it (so unequivocally ;-)) and a rescue blanket. So if you get into a shower or have a breakdown, you can get yourself and your bike and luggage to safety here.

At this point, thanks also to Maximilian Amler & Andre Höfle who restored this hut on a voluntary basis in spring 2021. :-)

Hut from 1912 with covered seating, located on the Grabener Allee (the longest of the rays from the castle). The Hirschgraben runs alongside the avenue to the Galgengraben (the Alte Bach). The two ditches meet at the picnic tables.

It's located right next to the Gallows Ditch. I wonder where that got its name from??...

The Monumenthaus is (in its current form) an open hut in the Hardtwald on Karl-Knierer-Weg southwest of Blankenloch. Behind the house is The Monument, a stone with an inscription about two hunting successes of Grand Duke Carl Friedrich. Next to the house is a Schwengelbrunn (around 1815). The monument was erected in 1812. It was surrounded with maple trees and a fence and the monument house was added in 1815 on behalf of Grand Duke Karl. The building served as a hunting lodge and had two rooms for the master and for the servants. The fence was replaced in 1825 and the roof of the Monument House in 1881. The house burned down on September 6, 1973. The current monument house was then built. Source: https://ka.stadtwiki.net/Monumenthaus

Seating in the entrance area of the hut and on the other side of the path outside. I drive past here often, and usually no one sits here. But I never drive here on Sundays.
