If there is a "tourist center", it is Törökmező and the increasingly iconic, retro Turistaház. I saw it about 40 years ago in a similar state, but Pál Rockenbauer also filmed (if not exactly the same) his cult series "Másfélmillió lépés Magyaroszágon" here. The designation of an important tourist hub is no accident, as several tourist signs pass through this point, and it is also a stamping point for the Horizont cycling tour, moreover, on the same pole as the Kéktúra. Here you will also find: a buffet, a restaurant, a free zoo, but of course also accommodation. It is also easily accessible by car. Many programs and excursion opportunities are available in the area, just look at the information board.

The Castle is renovated, and the Turkish Zoo is free. But! It is an excellent tourist center to this day. I recommend it to everyone who passes through the area.

Update : open again! Still closed in January 2025 as far as I know. There was a smaller fire in Nov 2024 which probably delayed the re-opening.

!!! The tourist house is closed for renovation until autumn(?) 2024. By the looks of it, it still has at least a month of work to do. We did not find any working springs on the surrounding roads, so getting water can be a problem in hot weather. The workers allow you to refill water supplies from the tap inside (although it doesn't taste very good).
