A historic cultural center, once home to many events. Now, exclusive condominiums with swimming pools and spa areas are to be built here 🙄.

A major project was launched in 2017, with the intention of building 86 residential units. After discussions with the monument preservation authorities, the project has been put on hold since January 2025. I can't find any information online about why. I think it's a real shame, and I feel sorry for the place that now has such an eyesore!

The Zinnowitz Cultural Center is a multifunctional building in the municipality of Zinnowitz on the island of Usedom, where cultural events took place until the 1980s. It was built between 1953 and 1957 and was formerly known as the German-Soviet Friendship Cultural Center. It served as a cultural institution with a theater, a dance café, a library, and a dining room with an adjoining commercial kitchen. The ruined building was listed as a historic monument in 2007 due to its former importance as a prominent and dominant element of local life. Info: Wikipedia
