View of the Ourthe meanders from Le Hérou

Highlight • Viewpoint

Le Hérou, a challenge for big and small heroes...

Reaching the highlight of the weekend with the family…
Packed and ready, we first get to know the rock ledge L’Hérou along a normal hiking trail.
Nice views, boring according to our young heroes.

A new challenge awaits them…
To trigger the boys, we quickly descend to the valley of the Ourthe where they play a game of kikeikatsen on the water surface.

To end our adventurous walk in style, we decide as ‘big and small heroes’ to climb L’Hérou along a ‘black hiking trail = almost via ferrata’.
Once we reached the highest and furthest point, everyone was tired but satisfied.
Time to go back home.
We all enjoyed ‘our family weekend’.

Bellemeuse Valley

Highlight • Gorge

‎The Bellemeuse has its origins in the peatlands of the Plateau des Tailles, about 600 m above sea level. This capricious stream formed a deep U-shaped valley in the heart of the Eastern Ardennes. The valley crosses the villages of Wibrin, Berismenil, Mormont and Nadrin and is the landmark of a rich biodiversity.‎
‎In the 1970s, Ardennes fashion was in the making. The stream did not escape: the entire track was planted with fir trees. In the dark desert of logging, Bellemeuse has seen its natural wealth drastically diminish. In 2006, the life plateau des Tailles brought the creek to life. Most plots of the valley have been acquired and have the status of nature reserves. After the elimination of the spruce, nature has regained its rights.‎
