The Cerro de la Cruz volcano rises on a Paleozoic mountain range to the north of the town center of Alcolea de Calatrava, with a good part of the village built on its flows. It is formed by a cone of fallen, welded pyroclasts, with abundant presence of quartzite fragments that present more or less intense vitrification processes.
