There used to be infrastructure there; it would be nice if it were still there.

This cycle path is the best life-extending measure for all cyclists in the Wiedtal valley; many locals use the Wiedtal road with their vehicles as a rally track, and cyclists sometimes disrupt the flow!

The historic stone bridge in Altwied, spanning the Wied River, was originally built in 1648 and served as a connection between the castle town and the adjacent forest. Destroyed by a flood in 1681, the bridge was rebuilt in 1825. During the final days of the war in 1945, the bridge arches were blown up to halt the advance of the Allied troops. Reconstruction took place in 1949, replicating the original design. Today, the stone bridge provides access to the residential area "Am Brückenstein" and a network of attractive hiking trails.
