Kullens Fyr Lighthouse

Highlight • Monument

Kullens Fyr is the brightest lighthouse in Scandinavia and stands 78.5 meters above sea level at the very tip of the Kullaberg Nature Reserve near Mölle.

Beacons have been operating at the northern entrance to the Öresund, one of the busiest waterways in the world, for over 1,000 years.

The current lighthouse was designed in 1898 by the architect Magnus Dahlander from Dalarna. The 15-meter-high Kullens Fyr is made of gneiss and bricks and was put into operation in 1900. The three large lenses of the light apparatus rotate four times a minute and emit three light signals per revolution.

The light signals can be seen from 50 kilometers away.

The lens apparatus must also rotate during the day (unlit), otherwise there is a risk that the lenses will act like large magnifying glasses and the incoming sunlight will cause fires.

Silver Cave (Silvergrottan)

Highlight • Cave

In Kullaberg caves have traces of the Stone Age (Upper Palaeolithic) discovered and below the lighthouse, a figure from the Bronze Age. The pebble beaches and grottoes were used by fishermen and smugglers. The silver grotto at the foot of the lighthouse is a remnant of mining, all other caves are of natural origin. Information about various tours / activities (cave walk, Tummlersafari) and the nature reserve can be obtained in Naturum Kullaberg, right on the lighthouse.

Lahibiagrottan Cave

Highlight • Cave

A cave down by the sea. The easiest way to get there is to take a little detour to the sea along the red route. There is a small sign on the route. The descent is along a rope that is already stretched for safety. At the end of the rope, keep left and you will see the cave. Highly recommended! You should have a bit of head strength though. Have fun!!?

It looks a bit more impressive in the pictures than it actually is. But it is still worth the climb up and down

The rope attachment bars may look a bit wobbly in places, but you can hold on to the rope well and easily get down through the rubble.

Anyone who hikes around the headland on Kullaleden (70 km, part of Skåneleden SL 5) will have completed about half of the way past the lighthouse. Despite everyone's rights, wild camping is not permitted here as it is a nature reserve. At the large parking lot there is a windbreak and a small tent area for multi-day hikers to stay overnight. Unfortunately, the tent meadow is quite sloping and there is a lot going on in and around the parking lot, especially on weekends. There are much quieter overnight accommodations with windbreaks, toilets etc. at Himmelstorp, for example.
