The road was passable at Easter (April 22nd). It was still closed to cars. The ranger overtook me twice on the approximately 25km (good asphalt), and there was no other traffic. Otherwise, a fantastic route. An absolute highlight.

Anyone heading towards the Jeschken TV Tower and coming from the direction of Keyštofovo Údoli has completed the "hardest" climb.

We rode it as a descent and thought it was one of the most beautiful/fun descents we have ridden in Europe. Excellent asphalt, great scenic hairpin bends and only encountered two cars (Tuesday afternoon)

Anyone who also wants to climb the Ještěd (1012 m) from the Neisse cycle path will find a relaxed route here with little traffic and a moderate gradient (compared to the road ascent from Liberec). After the adventurous crossing of the Neisse by transporter bridge, the route goes up the picturesque Christofsgrund (Kryštovo Údolí) to the Kriesdorfer Sattel (Křižanské Sedlo, 576 m). From there, follow a well-ridable forest path with a great view up to the Auerhahnsattel (Tetřeví sedlo, 769 m, also called Ausgespann/Výpřež). Then the final climb to the Jeschken awaits you. The climb is spread over a total length of 14 km and is therefore comparatively easy. However, you will still have to make a certain amount of effort if you want to climb the highest peak of the Ještěd Mountains. 😄 You can then either ride down the road towards Liberec and back onto the Neisse cycle path, or you can continue to follow the ridge path of the Ještěd Mountains. This will then be a bit bumpier, however...

October 31, 2023, Kammloch Saddle

This is the border between the Czech Republic and Germany. The Kammloch (520 m) is a mountain saddle that lies in the forests on the main ridge between Hochwald and Brandhöhe about 1.5 km south of Oybin. A road runs through it and turns sharply to the east towards Lückedorf. From there the paths branch off to Hain, to the summit of the Hochwald and across the state border to the former forester's lodge No. 6 and to Petrovice (Petersdorf). About 150 m northeast of the saddle lies the lightly wooded Ziegelberg (541 m), on the north side of which there are two climbing rocks. The elongated Oybin locomotive reaches a height of up to 22 m, slightly lower is the dome-shaped slab stone, around 15 m high. 200 m further north are the Kelchstein cliffs, which are popular with hikers and climbers, on the road.
