September 15, 2023, Eulenbäume (Hollow Oaks) in Kaufunger Wald

Two "owl trees" stand in the middle of the Kaufunger Forest. One of the old trees has a circumference of 4.80 meters. The thicker owl tree, with a trunk circumference of 6.59 meters, is one of the thickest sessile oaks in Germany. The huge trunk has numerous openings, which is probably where the name "owl tree" comes from. You can look through the hollow trunk from various directions. Definitely impressive and worth seeing.

This region is always worth a visit. There is no bad weather - if there is, there are these highlights (I was able to enjoy these beautiful pictures and experiences at the beginning of April 2022)
