Suspension bridge "Maurrinne" since 2013, Längenfeld Since 2013, there has been an 83m long (valley floor 220 meters) panoramic suspension bridge over the "Maurrinne" between Burgstein and Brand. The entire path has also been renovated and widened, so you can comfortably walk to and from Burgstein. From the bridge, you can look out over the wide valley floor of Längenfeld and the Aqua Dome thermal spa. There is also a "dog track": special metal plates have been mounted on the floor of the bridge so that the little four-legged friends do not injure their paws and can cross the suspension bridge without any problems. More of a hike than a climb, but this is where you come down from the via ferrata.

720 steps await us, and in between there is a spectacular view of the valley and the Stuibenfall. The bridge swings a little - so it's best not to have a (great) fear of heights. But it's definitely worth it! Attention dog owners: The steps and platforms are large grates and not suitable for dogs. Small dogs should be carried as they can fall between the steps.

Beyond the well-known Stuibenfall, visitors highly rate Lake Piburg, one of Tyrol's warmest bathing lakes and an ancient nature reserve. Another popular spot is the Burgstein Suspension Bridge, offering panoramic views over the valley floor of Längenfeld.
Yes, the Natural Bathing Lake Umhausen, located at the foot of the Stuibenfall, is ideal for families. It features pure drinking water, reaches up to 24°C in summer, and offers sunbathing lawns, a children's playground, and a diving tower. The Burgstein Suspension Bridge is also considered family-friendly with pram-accessible paths.
Umhausen is home to the Köfels Rock-slide, the largest mass movement in the Alpine region approximately 8,000 years ago. This event transformed gneiss into a glass-like rock called 'Köfelsit,' and with luck, you might still find pieces along the roadside, offering a glimpse into the powerful geological forces that shaped the area.
The region around Umhausen offers diverse outdoor activities. You can find numerous hiking routes, including trails around the Stuibenfall and circular hikes like the Köfler Waalweg. For runners, there are dedicated running trails, such as the Stuibenfall Water Runner Trail. Cyclists can explore various road cycling routes through the Ötztal valley.
Yes, the Stuibenfall is well-equipped for visitors. A hiking trail with approximately 700 steps, five viewing platforms, and an 80-meter-long suspension bridge allows you to experience the waterfall up close. The Stuibenfall Viewing Platform provides an excellent vantage point.
The Burgstein Suspension Bridge is notably dog-friendly, featuring special metal plates on its base to ensure small four-legged friends can cross comfortably without injuring their paws. Many hiking trails in the region are also suitable for dogs, but always keep them on a leash and respect local regulations.
The natural monuments around Umhausen are beautiful year-round. Summer (June to August) is ideal for swimming in the warm lakes like Lake Piburg and the Natural Bathing Lake Umhausen. Spring and autumn offer pleasant hiking weather and vibrant natural colors. The Stuibenfall is particularly impressive during snowmelt in spring when water volume is highest. Evenings in summer offer a unique experience with the Stuibenfall illuminated every Wednesday.
The Stuibenfall is Tyrol's largest waterfall, plunging 159 meters. Beyond its visual grandeur, the fine water spray creates an ionization effect, enriching the air with negative ions. This is believed to improve air quality and well-being, and has even been linked to improved lung function, making it a unique sensory experience.
For a more secluded experience, consider visiting the Tumpen Waterfall, located in the hamlet of Tumpen near the entrance to Umhausen. It offers a beautiful display of the Alps' elemental power in a quieter setting, ideal for reflection.
From the Weller Bridge over the Ötztaler Ache, you can witness the powerful flow of the Ötztaler Ache river, especially impressive after snowmelt. It's also a popular spot to observe experienced water sports enthusiasts navigating the rapids in their rafting kayaks from a safe distance.
Visitors frequently highlight the breathtaking scenery and the elemental power of nature. The opportunity to get close to cascading water at the Stuibenfall, the refreshing experience of swimming in warm mountain lakes, and the panoramic views from bridges like the Burgstein Suspension Bridge are often praised. The region's diverse trails also offer a great sense of accomplishment and immersion in the Alpine environment.
