Oh, I hope all these people with sticks up their asses die out one day. Someone always dies somewhere, and at some point, everything's fine. Stupid death cult.

Both sides are just awesome. Long S0-1 passages on the right, interrupted by S2-S4 pieces, some of which can only be overcome by carrying. Easy on the left, but unfortunately overgrown, which makes it a hell of a ride in summer. Definitely wear protectors, otherwise you will be torn apart by the jungle!

Those who like switchbacks will grin here, everyone with less good cornering technique has to lift a few times. The rest of the way is steep, but still easy to ride. The ground is relatively firm. Very nice section !!!

Awesome trail and hiking trail. Requires a little courage and good bike control, but then it's really fun! Not for beginners!

The region around Oelsberg, particularly within the Rhein-Lahn-Kreis, is known for its challenging mountain biking trails. You'll find diverse natural landscapes with singletrack trails through forests and along river valleys. These trails often feature narrow paths, technical sections, and varied terrain, catering to mountain biking enthusiasts.
Yes, several trails offer a significant challenge. For instance, the Mühlbachtal Rope Trail to Anton Funck Bridge (S1–S2) is a challenging trail with narrow paths and sections secured with ropes along rocky, forested ground. Another option is the Allenburg Trail (S2), known for its steep descents, tight turns, and rocky sections, offering an adrenaline-filled experience.
The Singletrack Trails in Nassau Conservation Area are highly regarded for their impeccable condition and high fun factor. These trails require technical skill and offer a great experience for mountain bikers.
While Oelsberg itself focuses on challenging singletrack, the broader Sauerland region offers larger bike parks. Bikepark Winterberg, for example, is considered Germany's premier bike park and caters to all skill levels, from beginners to professionals, with trails ranging from easy to pro. They also offer courses for learning technical basics and equipment rentals.
At larger parks like Green Hill Bike Park in Schmallenberg, you can expect rental services, a small bike store, and a workshop. Both Green Hill and Bikepark Winterberg provide uplift services (T-bar or chairlifts) and dining options at various points within the parks.
Yes, you can explore historical elements while biking. The Celtic burial mounds freeride trail offers an intermediate freeride route through the forest, passing by ancient Celtic barrows, combining biking with a touch of history.
Visitors appreciate the unique and varied experiences. Many highlight the challenging nature of trails like the Mühlbachtal Rope Trail, with its secured sections along the Mühlbach. The well-maintained single trails in the Nassau Conservation Area are also frequently praised for their high fun factor and the technical skill they demand.
Beyond the bike parks, Oelsberg offers a variety of cycling options. You can explore gravel biking routes, enjoy scenic road cycling routes, or discover more MTB trails throughout the region.
For those seeking a wilder experience, the Singletrack (S1) Right Side of the Dörsbach (Downstream) is described as the 'wild brother' of its counterpart. It features narrower paths, more varied sections, and is less well-maintained, offering an awesome, sometimes 'pumped-track' feel, with some S2-S4 pieces that may require carrying your bike.
The diverse terrain around Oelsberg, with its forests and river valleys, is generally enjoyable during spring, summer, and autumn. These seasons offer pleasant weather for tackling the challenging singletrack trails. Always check local conditions before heading out, especially after heavy rain, as some trails can become more technical.
Trails around Oelsberg are often graded using the Singletrack Scale (S-Scale). For example, the Mühlbachtal Rope Trail is rated S1–S2, and the Allenburg Trail is S2. These ratings indicate the technical demands, with S1 being easy to moderate and S2 requiring more advanced riding skills due to obstacles like roots, rocks, and tighter turns.
