Grotte de l’Ours sits in the Chapman area of the Monts Stoke, reached after a forest walk with several small creek crossings. Despite the name, it isn’t a deep cave but a natural rock formation that creates a sheltered, cave-like opening. A lookout sits just a few metres farther on, above the cliff, so it’s worth continuing past the grotto before turning back.

The Chapman Area Trail follows the Monts Stoke ridgeline for about 10 kilometres between Rang XI and Rang XIV. Most of the trail stays in forest along the ridge, with side trips leading to viewpoints and features such as Grotte de l’Ours. The broader Chapman section reaches elevations of up to about 648 metres and links into the East Angus and Stoke trail areas. Non-members need a day permit to access the network.

Range XI is one of the main access points into the Monts Stoke trail network. From here, trails head north along the Chapman ridge and east towards the East Angus sector, where the route eventually connects with Vallée Heureuse du Mont-Élan near Westbury. The surrounding forest is fairly quiet, and this junction is useful if you want to link several sections of the wider 28-kilometre network.
