To finish that thought on elevation: it sits around 4,500 to 5,300 feet (1,370 to 1,615 meters), which makes it a perfect, more accessible staging ground before tackling the altitude of Mount Whitney. It’s also fascinating that even though they look entirely different, the Alabama Hills and the Sierra peaks are actually the exact same geological age! https://www.autoexpreso.com.co

Heart Arch is one of several arches that you can see along the Arch Loop Trail in the Alabama Hills. Although you can hike to it, the best vantage point to see it is actually in the main parking area!

Boot Arch is a lesser known (perhaps due to its proximity to the more famous Mobius Arch and the Eye of the Alabama Hills on Movie Road), but still very unique arch in the Alabama Hills area. It is reached via a well-maintained, hard-packed dirt road.

The Alabama Hills are just west of Lone Pine, California. This area is renowned for its striking, otherworldly scenery. Its vast expanse of rugged, rounded rock formations and arched boulders, that contrast dramatically with the jagged peaks of the High Sierras Nevada in the background, make it a favorite place for filmmakers and outdoors people alike. There are plenty of hiking, rock climbing, and mountain biking opportunities here, but be sure to get an early start in the warmer months because it can get very, very hot.
