January 24, 2025, Bandera Creek Trail

This is one of the more technical trails within Hill Country. You'll have to cross over the (usually) dry creek bed a number of times and the rocks can pose an obstacle.

This State run park offers over 40 miles of trails through a variety of terrain and has something for all skill levels. However, this is a remote location and no water is available, so be sure to bring all that you will need.

A slight detour off the East Trail takes you to this super cool rock formation. It is a cave that has opened up, leaving a curved wall with indents and interesting marks. It is a great spot to stop and cool down in the summer months as well.

Birds Eye View is an awesome overlook in Lost Maples State Natural Area. The overlook is just off the side of the East Trail. There is a super, super short spur trail that leads to the valley and canyon viewpoint.
