In 1849, a two-manual organ was built in the Walsrode town church by Eduard Meyer from Hanover. After minor changes, the instrument has been in its original form since 1974, making it the largest surviving Meyer organ of national importance. In 2004, the organ was restored by the Hillebrand Brothers organ builder and brought back into good condition, particularly from a technical point of view. A cornet in Meyer's spirit was installed in an originally empty space, as well as a pedal coupler and a tremulant. The St. John the Baptist Church is a large, bright church in the classical style, which was built in 1848-50 by the consistory master builder Ludwig Hellner and has remained almost unchanged to this day. There were at least three previous churches, these were built in the 10th, 12th and 15th centuries. The tower (1786) and the Mary bell (1437) are older than the nave. The smaller monastery church stands wall to wall to the south. Both church buildings are connected by a door and some windows.
