Schlösschen Schönburg, also a building by Oberhof master builder Simon Louis du Ry for Landgrave Wilhelm IX of Hesse, had been built for the private spa stays of the landgravial, later electoral, family. In today's Gesundbrunnen landscape park, it is an absolute architectural eye-catcher. 😊

The building was constructed in the austere form of Kassel Baroque, with two external staircases, a central portal, and a mansard hipped roof. It had an upper floor with living quarters, later used by garrison officers. The courtroom was located in the attic, and the prison was in the basement.
