The veneration of the Sacred Heart of Jesus can look back on a three-and-a-half-century-long history in the Catholic Church. It can be traced back to Saint Margaret Mary Alacoyue (1647 to 1690), a French nun. In this time-honored tradition, the church here in Zessau was also dedicated to the Sacred Heart of Jesus. The probably most famous church in continental Europe with this patronage is SACRE-COEUR de Montmartre in the French capital.

The Eichelmännlein leads through the Weihersberg cultural landscape. Really beautiful, idyllic path, past a pasture with fruit trees. Unfortunately we turned in a different direction too early, we definitely have to go back here and walk the entire way. The illustrated panels along the way are very informative and nice to look at.
