The best traffic-free bike rides in Plattenburg

A lovely little village church with an unusual look (for a church).

I thought that section of the trail was absolutely beautiful. It could have been much, much longer. A true dream. Don't get me wrong! There aren't any standout highlights. The consistently good asphalt path and the beautiful, fragrant, peaceful forest are the highlights.

A bridge leads over a small weir, over which the estate pond flows beneath the bridge. Very idyllic, a small biotope in a beautiful landscape.

The Prignitz Narrow Gauge Railway Museum in Lindenberg is dedicated to the history of the former Prignitz narrow gauge railway, which connected large parts of the region from the end of the 19th century and primarily served passenger and freight transport. The museum is housed in an original, preserved warehouse of the former station and uses models, photographs, documents, and historical exhibits to illustrate the development of the railway, affectionately known as "Pollo." The exhibition is complemented by the Prignitz Museum Railway, where a restored section of track is once again operated with historic carriages. A small, historic tower stands directly on the road next to the designated bike path. Beautifully restored, the door is unlocked, allowing you to peek inside. I initially mistook it for a pigeon tower, as there was no information panel about the building. It took me a while to discover its purpose, especially since the tower (officially, it seems, a "house") had been moved to a different location in the meantime. For those interested, here's some information about the cheese drying tower: The small building is a half-timbered structure with a square floor plan and a pyramidal roof. It was built around 1825/1827. Fantastic nature and incredible peace.

I particularly like the cycle path between the Elbe and the Havel tributaries, from Gnevsdorf to Quitzöbel. It's pure nature. There are two observation towers from which you can easily observe many animals, especially birds. Coming from Wittenberge, cycle over the Gnevsdorf weir and at the oxbow weir, return to the mainland to Quitzöbel, then cycle back to Wittenberge or to Netzow and then on to Werben and Havelberg.

Bad Wilsnack is a worthwhile destination for a cycling tour, as it offers a perfect blend of culture, history, and relaxation. The town is particularly known for the imposing Church of the Holy Blood (St. Nikolai), a former pilgrimage site that dominates the townscape. The historic town center, with its restored half-timbered houses, provides a vivid impression of the local history. Extensive parks, easily incorporated into a cycling tour, and the Kristall spa and graduation tower offer further opportunities for relaxation. Thanks to its connection to regional cycling routes in the Prignitz region, Bad Wilsnack is ideal both as a stopover and as a starting point for further tours in the surrounding area.
