A tree stump, like a small island in the lake, accessible by stepping over the water, offers us a wonderful view of the lake. We savor the moment. The smell along the path is sometimes strong and earthy, while the shoreline is sometimes swampy and muddy, and we spot tadpoles among the shoreline plants.
