Marc Ruygrok transformed a letter into a work of art. Like on an old reading board, the B here stands for fire brigade. Clear as a traffic sign, the enormous B indicates: here is the fire station. The artwork's power lies in its sleek architectural form and its relationship to the sensual, rounded shape of the fire station by architect Jeanne Dekkers. The sculpture impresses with its simple, monumental scale, yet it also leaves room for the imagination. What other words begin with a B? A dead end for cyclists (the paths across this truly beautiful stretch of heath are for hikers only), but it's a lovely place to sit outside in the summer, and cozy inside in the winter too. Usually busy on weekends.
