Reiding Park is a small park in the Dutch town of Drachten, named after the Reiding family, who were influential in the Smallingerland region in the 19th century. The park features ancient oak trees, a water feature, an artificial hill (the so-called "Drachtsterberg"), and a moat on three sides. The park is truly beautiful and clean, and you can take a leisurely stroll or sit on one of the numerous benches and enjoy nature.

Members of the "Thy Kingdom Come" association for inner mission, founded in 1899, decided in January 1925 to build their own Orthodox Reformed chapel. This chapel was built and opened on December 12, 1926. It is one of the few Orthodox Protestant chapels still in use in Friesland. A memorial service was held on December 12, 2006, to mark the chapel's 80th anniversary.

The carillon in Drachten was designed by architect Gunnar Daan and built in 1996. The carillon stands where the drawbridge over the Drachtster Compagnonsvaart canal once stood. A text by the writer and poet Harmen Wind can be read on the supporting beams. This text refers to the four elements: earth, fire, water, and air. It is written in both Dutch (outside) and Frisian (inside).

Well worth seeing. A nice story about two brothers, and the information about Philips was also interesting! Afterwards, we walked to the Parrot District and admired the Van Doesburg-Rinsema House. https://museumdrachten.nl

Beautiful nature reserve just above Drachten, ending at the peat pile, a wonderful bird area.
