A hot day in June and still not to get through without boots or wet shoes and probably also ankles and maybe knees. The reason (only seen afterwards at home because I just wandered): "Around junction 78 and 63 is currently under water due to an active beaver, passage difficult, even with boots" - see https://www.ontdekbalen.be/doen/wandelen/schepswandeling

De Most is part of the larger Most-Keiheuvel nature reserve, managed by the Agency for Nature and Forests. De Most is mainly located in Balen and is a very wet and important nature reserve, while Keiheuvel consists of inland dunes. De Most, or the valley, is located not far from the Grote Nete and is named after the castle De Most that played a role in the resistance during the war. Today you will find special aquatic plants such as cinquefoil, water leaf and peat fluff. The paths are well marked, but make sure you wear good footwear because the tiny piece of boardwalk that is there will be far from sufficient to keep your feet dry in wet weather. This is undoubtedly a beautiful area.

Come back here every now and then because the nature management works are continuing and there are many puddles, pools and canals. Some parts require boots or high, really waterproof walking shoes in very wet weather. Bird lovers obviously don't forget their binoculars and/or photo lenses.
