Tips from the Community

Olivier Rapin
February 20, 2025, Southwest Shore of Lake Murten at Salavaux

We started the walk from the Salavaux village hall and followed the Broye towards the lake. Then we joined the edge of the lake to follow it for one or two kilometers and ended up returning by the Vita trail. A great walk that we like to do out of season.

Avenches, also known as Aventicum, is a charming town in Switzerland with a rich Roman history. The remains of ancient Aventicum, once the capital of the Roman province of Helvetia, attract visitors from all over the world. In addition to the fascinating archaeological sites, Avenches also offers a picturesque old town surrounded by beautiful countryside.

Cudrefin is a small community on the beautiful shores of Lake Neuchâtel. The old village center is characterized by stately town houses and farmhouses, and the clock tower is particularly striking.

The port of Cudrefin is one of the many small idylls on Lake Neuchâtel. You can walk out onto the lake from the jetty and marvel at the water fountain. A park with a playground on the shore invites you to have a picnic or swim.

The Roman theater was probably built in the 2nd century AD. Today you can tour the historic site and even have a picnic there. Further information at https://www.aventicum.org/de/monumente/theater
