Alpine Farm near Oulx Tucked away on the high slopes near the Strada dell’Assietta, this remote mountain farm is special. If the doors are open, step inside. The family produces raw-milk cheeses using age-old methods, matured in a cool stone cellar. A slice of toma or fontina offers a quiet moment of warmth and simplicity, right in the heart of a demanding day. From here, it’s downhill into the Oulx valley. Mostly.

It is practically located on top of the remains of the fort of the same name. From here it is possible to see other forts that make up the Assietta defensive line, as well as the usual panorama of the surrounding peaks. It can be reached very easily as the area is served by a series of military roads

It is located just below the fortifications of the Gran Serin, a nice little lake which in the past summers had always dried up, but in 2024 thanks to the abundant rainfall in spring it has recovered in a big way
