The Schelmenteichbrunnen was used as a wash fountain and for drinking water supply. The water is distributed via a semicircular stone trough. The facility is fed by a spring located about 50 meters up the path on the other side. The Schelmenteichbrunnen got its name from a pond that was located below the current fountain facility in earlier times. In 2020, the name of the fountain was erected by the Esthal "fountain restorers" Helmut Weitzel, Albert Kuhn and Walter Wolf.

The Römerbrunnen was intended to be used for the water supply of the municipality of Esthal via natural gravity. Due to low water yield, the plan was discarded again. In 2015, the well was redeveloped by Helmut Weitzel and Albert Kuhn from PWV Esthal and fitted with an artistically crafted fountain stone.
