The hotel quickly achieved a significant international reputation. Members of the Russian nobility, in particular, frequented the hotel during their spa treatments. The outbreak of the First World War and the resulting absence of this clientele marked the beginning of the decline of Bad Wildungen, a "world-famous spa," which also affected the Fürstenhof. Due to the restructuring of the spa operations in the following decades, the hotel could no longer live up to its reputation as a world-renowned luxury hotel. At the end of the 1960s, a large portion of the interior furnishings was auctioned off.

That's right, bats hibernate here. It's an official bat hibernation area; the Hesse State Association for Cave and Karst Research regularly counts the bat population once a winter. Fire salamanders, cave parasitic wasps, and many insects also survive in the small tunnel. The tunnel is about 20 meters long, and at the end, there's water in the passage, which is home to a lot of life. Best regards, Marc
