The Eastern Europe aid organization "Renovabis" of the Catholic Church in Germany writes in a 2021 article "Breathing with Both Lungs": „Cyril and Methodius - for 40 years now the two brothers have been patrons of Europe, appointed by Pope John Paul II in 1980. The Pope's famous reasoning at the time was: Christian Europe must "breathe with both lungs", the Roman-Latin and the Slavic-Byzantine. Cyril and Methodius are often called "Apostles to the Slavs" - but in reality, these two Greek missionaries were much more: They created connections between two cultural worlds on the same continent, between Western and Eastern Europe, between the eastern and western tradition of the Church - and were thus bridge-builders of their time. And they brought a great innovation to the Church: They ensured that people could celebrate the liturgy in a language they understood - not Latin, not Greek or Hebrew, but in their everyday language, Slavic. On February 14, the day of Cyril's death in 869, both the Catholic, the Protestant, and the Orthodox Church commemorate the two saints.“

The Antoniuskapelle was donated in 1692 by the Schrezheim citizen and owner of the local brickworks, Anton Friedrich Ziegler, and his wife Margarete. On May 20, 1729, it was consecrated in honor of Saint Anthony of Padua. In 1757, it received his relic directly from Padua. The chapel's ceiling frescoes with scenes from the saint's legend were created in 1821 by Josef Wintergerst and Maria Barbara Wintergerst. On the mensa of the left side altar is a faience altar, created in 1773/74 in the Schrezheim faience manufactory. The model comes from Johann Martin Mutschele (Bamberg). The unique faience altarlet, a masterpiece of the manufactory, is a work of art of European rank. Source: https://se-ellwangen.drs.de/unsere-kirchengemeinden/unsere-kapellen.html

An example of ecumenism in action! The old Jesuit Church has been the Evangelical Church since 1803 and is connected to the Catholic Basilica with an open door.

The Hariolf circular trail is relatively well signposted. 14 pillars depict the highlights of Ellwangen; the word "Hariolf Rundweg" has exactly the same number of letters. The pillars have a kind of window at the top; if you look through it, you can see the described sight. https://www.bloggmaus.de/2022/11/wanderung-hariolf-rundweg-ellwangen.html?m=1
