The hiking parking lot on Kaiserstraße is located below the Kaiser Wilhelm Monument on Wittekindsberg in the Wiehen Hills and serves as an important starting point for numerous hikes and walks. Its convenient location makes it easily accessible for both local visitors and day-trippers, offering practical access to one of East Westphalia's most popular hiking areas. From the parking lot, well-marked trails lead up to the Kaiser Wilhelm Monument and onward to significant historical and scenic destinations such as Wittekindsburg Castle, the Kreuzkirche (Church of the Cross), and the Margarethenklus (Margarethen Hermitage). The routes wind through shady beech forests and along ridge paths, offering frequent views of the Weser Valley. This makes the parking lot ideal for both short circular walks and extended hikes along the Wittekindsweg trail and other regional hiking routes.

Great bike path on the old railway line between Harrienstedt and Uchte. It's a leisurely 24km ride. Only a few intersections slow you down. The asphalt is excellent!

A view of the Weser River is not to be missed; it offers a beautiful sight in every season. The vegetation and birdlife are also worth seeing, and there are plenty of great places to sit along the riverbank, as well as wonderful cycling and hiking trails 👍🏻. Many stretches of the riverbank invite you to linger and relax. The Weser cycling and hiking trail is highly recommended 👍🏻.

Finally, a bike path along a river, one that actually runs right alongside it. (At least here.) And nicely smooth asphalt.

In Ovenstädt, the Weser Cycle Route runs along the old Petershagen-Glissen-Kreuzkrug-Uchte railway line. The station building in Ovenstädt now serves as a residential building. The same applies to Glissen. The old Petershagen station has long been a restaurant with a beer garden.
