The scenically attractive location fascinates primarily through the ruin of Altwinnenden Castle (Burg Bürg) from the 12th century, whose widely visible keep forms the village's trademark. The crisp ascent rewards hikers, cyclists, and gravel bikers alike with a magnificent panoramic view over Winnenden, the Remstal valley, and, in good visibility, as far as Stuttgart and Ludwigsburg.

The Murr spring marks the origin of one of the region's most important rivers. The water emerges directly from the slope and collects in a small, natural spring basin before making its way as a narrow stream through the Swabian-Franconian Forest.

Bürger Bädle Since 1931, the small, dreamy and peaceful outdoor swimming pool has existed in the Bürg district of Winnenden. Located directly at the edge of the forest, it is one of those places that is very difficult to leave after a hot and busy summer day. The sunbathing lawn offers everything your heart desires. Lots of sun, shade, and a fantastic view far beyond the rooftops of Winnenden. The members of the Bürger Badverein voluntarily take excellent care of your well-being.

From the former Bürg castle, the 23-meter-high defensive tower remains – clearly visible from afar. Gottfried von Winnenden had it built in 1181 on the commanding mountain spur. The once mighty Alt-Winnenden castle complex fell into ruin during the 15th century and was dismantled in 1538, with the exception of the defensive tower, the keep. The district of Bürg now occupies the site of the castle.
