Very great cycling and hiking route runs here along the Ostedeich. The ferryman is very nice and takes guests across the Oste. The Osteblick guesthouse offers many different seating options directly on the Oste. The service is recommendable, very nice and friendly. New are public toilets to the right of the guesthouse.

The crane's interior although the crane looks quite old, it is relatively young. It was only built in 1977, modeled after one in Lüneburg. Citizens of Stade, local businesses, and the Stade Rotary Club donated the money to make it possible to recreate Stade's beloved landmark. An exhibition inside the crane provides information about the history of the Hanseatic League, the port's history, the shipyards, and, of course, the wooden crane itself.
