actually not a pretty spot - only interesting because the Aurach gives the whole valley its name and its source is 7km as the crow flies from the Main - according to the maps the source is actually quite a bit further back in the inaccessible valley - it's easier for hikers to get there here - the Aurach flows into the Regnitz as far as Pettstadt near Hirschaid and then joins the Regnitz near Viereth into the Main (although the Main is much smaller) and then continues to the 7km as the crow flies from the source and has then covered just under 70km - how long do you think it takes the water to get from the source to the Knetzgau dam?

On the Steigerwald Panorama Trail, you'll find a small farm with emus and ostriches. They're very interesting to watch. There are also two roosters wandering around 🤣. Highly recommended.

I've driven past it so often that a bush obscures the view. Otherwise, it's a nice, relaxing place.
