The parish church of St. Michael in Mering, Bavaria, is an important baroque building dedicated to the Archangel Michael. It towers over the market square and forms a historical ensemble together with the remains of the former cemetery fortifications. History and architecture The substructure of the tower and the choir still come from the previous Gothic church. Construction of the new nave began in 1739 based on designs by Johann Baptist Gunetzrhainer and Joseph Effner. The church was painted by Ignaz Baldauf in the 18th century and received a representative altar decoration. Decoration The interior of the church impresses with its baroque decoration. The altars and the artistic frescoes are particularly noteworthy. The organ, built in 2007 by the Rohlf company, has 32 registers on three manuals and a pedal.
