Ladenburg was once founded as the Roman settlement Lopodunum, making it one of the oldest cities in Germany. In the old town center, half-timbered houses from various centuries, remains of the medieval city wall, and the imposing Bischofshof ensemble meet. Those looking for a coffee after the tour will find what they need in the small cafés around the market square.

Here, the circular inline skating trail, signposted several years ago by the Rhein-Neckar Skater Association after lengthy consultations with authorities in three municipalities (Heddesheim, Weinheim, Viernheim) in two federal states (Baden-Württemberg, Hesse), meets the Waidsee, a popular lake during the season. There's a beach (fee required) with SUP board rentals and a small sailing club harbor. The entrance to the beach is a little further to the left of the point where the circular trail meets the lake in a clockwise direction. When the bushes and trees are leafless, the lake is clearly visible from here. Unpaved footpaths and cycle paths also lead to freely accessible parts of the lake.

It's really funny, but you can see alpacas at this farm most times of the year! 😅 The graceful, fluffy animals are definitely worth a visit!
