Pastor Timo Weber blesses Nepomuk sculpture For the inauguration of the Neckarline, Rottweil's new landmark, an ecumenical service was held with Pastor Timo Weber and Dean Ulrich Dewitz in the well-filled festival tent on the Berner Feld. Afterwards, the new bridge was solemnly blessed. Then all the churchgoers were able to walk across the bridge to the Bockshof in procession with the two pastors. There, a Nepomuk sculpture was unveiled and blessed by Pastor Timo Weber. The figure was carved from an oak tree by the artist Michael Tomaszus from Bad Saulgau, which had to be felled in the Bockshof for the bridge construction. Project manager Roland Haag had promised the former city archivist Winfried Hecht, who has since passed away, at his request, to have a Saint Nepomuk carved from the tree. According to the legend, which led to the later canonization of John of Nepomuk, his dispute with King Wenceslas IV originated from the king's demand that Nepomuk should break the seal of confession. According to the account, the priest did not want to reveal to the king what his wife, suspected of infidelity by Wenceslas, had confided in him. Therefore, Wenceslas had him tortured and then thrown into the water from the Charles Bridge in Prague in 1393. His attributes are the cross and the finger to the mouth.
