Gießmannsdorf originated in the 13th century and was originally part of the Lordship of Golßen. The fieldstone church, without an apse, features a rectangular tower and regular masonry and can be attributed to the early Gothic period of the mid- to late 13th century, although precise construction dates are lacking. Over the centuries, the church underwent numerous alterations, including the raising of the tower in the 15th century, the addition of galleries around 1600, the widening of the windows in the 18th century, and various renovations and repairs up to the 20th century. Among its furnishings are a pulpit altar from the 19th century, an organ by Gotthold Claunigk from 1803, a partially preserved set of bells, and a particularly distinctive tower, considered one of the most beautiful in the region. A checkerboard stone is located on the southwest corner of the tower.
