Mönkebude is an extremely well-maintained spot with a wonderful beach area. Plenty of fine sand, clear water, a few beach chairs, and a meadow with trees on the headland next door, providing shade if needed. A very nice view of the Oder Lagoon and, to the rear or side, of the small harbor. Relaxation and dining options are a perfect combination. But it comes at a price. Parking is only permitted in the designated areas, and you (actually) also have to pay the tourist tax at the parking machine! Another disadvantage, besides the costs, is the mussels and their splinters, which can be painful for sensitive feet. The water is so shallow that the "bathing area" is hardly inviting or suitable for swimming. But there are very few places on the Oder Lagoon or Szczecin Lagoon where you can get close to the water or even think about swimming! – Mönkebude undoubtedly has a huge advantage here.

The schoolhouse, built in 1722, was demolished in 1906. A new building was constructed on another site (on Lindenstrasse – now Goethestrasse) as a boys' school. The school, which had been built in 1864, now taught only girls. This school system remained in place until World War I. The former boys' school (known as the Goethe School since 1951) serves as an elementary school, and the former girls' school (known as the Ehm Welk School since 1981) serves as a secondary school. Both school buildings share a common schoolyard. A special feature is the construction using clinker bricks produced in Ueckermünde.
