The field stone block building dates from the second half of the 13th century. At the beginning of the 20th century the church suffered major damage from a fire. In 1918 the church received the square plastered tower top and an Art Nouveau painting of the interior.

The church is a hall building built of carefully stacked layers of granite blocks with a truncated base and a square west tower as wide as a ship. It was built in the second half of the 13th century (after 1250), later the northern sacristy was added. The eastern wall is dominated by a slotted three-window set embedded in a gypsum ogival panel and a tripartite gable panel superimposed on it. The tower and roof truss were destroyed in a fire in 1840, the boarded top of the tower with a pointed slate cupola dates from 1890, as does the bell cast by Carl Voß from Szczecin. The grooved granite eaves cornice on the nave has survived to this day. In the western wall, there is a granite stepped portal with a valley, a round bolt and profiled imposts. On the wall there is a sandstone bas-relief as a war memorial to those who died in World War I.
